Here at James chase we are currently looking for a talented Data Engineer to join an exciting high growth client at the forefront of education.

We’re looking for an experienced engineer who is experienced/passionate about Data. The data engineering team sits within the data and insights team. It works closely with analysts and data scientists to design and deliver a platform that meets business stakeholder’s needs.

Please note this role can be office based, hybrid or fully remote. Offices situated in London and Sheffield.

Key responsibilities:

Your role will be focused on developing all aspects of the data platform – from consuming data from various sources through to serving processed outputs. You will need to:

  • Work with Python to update pipelines and develop services
  • Apply engineering best practices to your work, e.g., test-driven development
  • Use source control to manage versioning
  • Value and generate clear, comprehensive documentation
  • Communicate constructively with peers and stakeholders
  • Collaborate with other data-practices (analytics, data-science) to understand their needs
  • Apply agile thinking to your work – delivering iterations that incrementally build on what went before
What will you need to succeed? 

  • Experience working with Python
  • Experience with In-house developed services
  • Apache Airflow for orchestration
  • AWS tooling (S3, EMR, Lambda functions)
  • Redshift for warehousing
  • dbt for data transformations
  • Fivetran for ingestion
  • Docker, Jenkins, Kubernaut for building and deploying service
  • Experience working with SQL
